Project earn - october Issue #2 ANXIETY

Hi friends! :happybounce:

Second issue about anxiety! Still struggling with time to find resources and stuff for this project, but I recently found the group Neurotics-United which is dealing with anxiety-related topics and if you're interested you should definitely join them! One of their articles is featured below.

I'm planning another giveaway to spread the word about P.EARN but I'm scared it will have the "oh you're buying watchers"-effect/most of them won't care about the project anyway... I don't know, what do you think? Perhaps I should make a poll about it. I still cant, and I wouldn't do this with out you guys, so..

Oh well I am a dummy!

Hugs,
Aimyee

Anxiety by MelissaR1 The Trappings of Social Anxiety by BringMePenguinDust Mind On Fire by AbbeyMarie

Introverts and extroverts + social anxiety

The following text is a shortened version written by Gejda and submitted to the group :iconneurotics-united:,
which is a group you should totally take your time to look through for more information about anxiety and/or support.

A lot of you have  probably heard the term ‘introvert’ and ‘extrovert’ – these words had been used first by C.  G. Jung to explain different attitudes people use to direct their energy or, more simply – ‘recharge their batteries’.  It’s true that the diversity between the two can sometimes be startling; but it’s also true that sometimes – however difficult it may seem to believe - we may not be as different as we think, especially when it comes to afflictions like social anxiety.

See, introverts get their energy from spending time alone – be it by reading a book, watching their favourite tv show or simply relaxing in silence. Extroverts are the opposite of that – they recharge by being around people, by talking and socialising. If you see someone being the life and soul of the party – you can probably safely bet they’re extroverted.

Now - when you put things in that context, it may seem like it’s impossible for an extrovert to have social anxiety. Someone who actually needs and enjoys being around people can’t really go around doubting everything that comes out of their mouths and dreading phone calls, right?

…yeah, wrong.

“Why do extroverts have voicemail? To never miss a call.
Why do introverts have voicemail? To never answer the phone.”

Sometimes,
Sick isn't something
You can see.

When I'm standing there -
Sweaty palms
Heart racing
Fists bracing -
Absolutely terrified
For 'no reason at all',
I hope it makes you
Feel big and tall,
To tell me I'm being stupid.

When I can't talk to someone -
Because my throat is dry,
And I feel sick,
Like I can't
Catch my breath,
Like I'm going to cry
Like I'm hurtling
Towards death -
Don't tell me to
'Get over myself'.

When I'm crying -
Can't breathe,
And my knees
Go weak
And I'm too scared
To speak
And every heart
Beat
Makes me jump -
How can you tell me
I need to 'grow up'?

When I can't get on a bus -
Because so many people,
So many eyes,
And my mind is force-feeding
Me so many lies -
Don't tell me I 'think I'm better
Than everyone else'.

I'm trying my hardest.
Really, I am.

Would you tell someone with a broken leg
To just get up and walk?
Would you tell someone with no tongue
To open their mouth and talk?
Would you tell a wingless angel
To fly?
No.
So tell me why -
When it is my head that's sick,
A sick you can't see -
Is it any different for anxiety?

First issue of Project Earn and I really look forward to this. :D A lot of people have shown interest and support and that's awesome! Thank you!
This month we're dealing with bullying and/or intimidation, however, I also want to discuss friendship and how we value our friends and family, what is a good friend? etc. You can submit a deviation with something that relate to this topic - a photo, a painting, a poem, whatever you'd like, or you can write a journal with your opinions, your own experiences or facts about the topic. I'm open for everything! When you've done that, you note me with a link to your deviation or journal and I will feature it in different ways during this month. Since this project is completely new, this is more of a test-month to see if it actually works! :aww:

, so that's great!
Much of the information I will provide you with will come from the group

Project earn - october Issue #1 ANXIETY

Hi friends! :aww:
For this month (and probably in November/December, too) I've decided to continue talking about mental health. It's a very complex topic, but it's also very important to discuss it and to spread awareness about it. It's generally seen as taboo to talk about depression etc. and I still don't understand why since depression is very much like any other illness.

During these months we'll talk about different diseases/illnesses in their own "category", like, in one issue we'll discuss anxiety disorders, in the next we'll talk about mood disorders, after that psychotic disorders...and so forth.

For October, we'll start of with anxiety-related discussions.
It's gonna be dark, but we'll make the best out of it and hopefully you'll find it interesting and learn something!

Hugs,
Aimyee

Paralyzing anxiety by Aeirmid :iconaeirmid:

"Anxiety, especially when severe, is considered a serious mental illness, just like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are. Many people blow anxiety off as being something people can just "get over," but for many of us it is paralyzing, significantly interfering with our daily functioning. According to NIMH, about 18% of Americans will suffer from notable anxiety in a given year. That's nearly one out of every five us us-- and that's a lot! There are a variety of anxiety disorders, ranging from generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and everything in between. I won't bore you with the details of what each disorder means because I think, for the most part, we already know. I'd rather focus on what it means to us and what we can do about it.

The most important message I want to get across about anxiety disorders is that they  are real, and you can't just "snap out of it." They often occur comorbidly with other disorders, such as depression. In fact, depression and anxiety both are associated with dysfunctions of the serotonergic nervous system. Thus, when you feel you are suffering from an anxiety disorder, it is important to seek care. You matter, too, and it's not just in your head!"..........

Read the whole journal here at mental-health:

Continuing the conversation: Paralyzing anxietyHello, group!
in response to my various recent journals on mental illness, a lot of you commented that we need to present specific strategies for coping with mental illness and for helping others help us cope. That is the goal of this article, this time with specific attention on anxiety that is paralyzing or suffocating. Please consider joining the conversation, whether you suffer from anxiety or not.
About anxiety
First, let me say that the World Health Organization (WHO, http://www.who.int ) has little to nothing on anxiety worldwide, which is a travesty. Thus, the statistics I am presenting below are for the United States through the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH, http://www.nimh.nih.gov ). Know of a great, reliable site with mental health statistics for your country? Please drop me a link.
Anxiety, especially when severe, is considered a serious mental illness, just like bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are. M

1. How'd we know someone is suffering from a mental disease? Should we simply ask them?

CommissionS OPEN

I've finally decided to put up my commission info! :la:
I know that my prices aren't very cheap for being a first-time-dA-commission-thing, but unfortunately I need to make some earnings from my work.. The prices are mostly set from how many hours it takes me to finish a piece. Thank you for your consideration

Hugs,
Aimyee

GENERAL INFORMATION

:bulletpurple: I accept payment through PayPal or Points. There are two ways to pay:
:bulletyellow: Payment A: You pay me full price of commission work at the beginning when I start drawing.
:bulletyellow: Payment B: You pay me half price of commission work at the beginning when I start drawing, and the other half price when the commissioned work is done.

:bulletpurple: There's a possibility to see work-in-progress screenshots or sketches. If you want major changes from the initial sketch, additional charges will occur.

:bulletpurple: The commissioned artwork is for personal use.

:bulletpurple: I will keep all rights to the commissioned artwork, including distribution. You are not allowed to re-distribute, reproduce, sell or make profit from my artwork without my permission. You may not claim the work to be your own.

:bulletpurple: I highly suggest you to send me good reference photos, character description, stories and such.

:bulletpurple: When your commission is finished I'll send it to your e-mail adress as an .jpg image, full resolution, 300 DPI.

What I draw

From what you see in my gallery I mostly draw portraits, usually simplified or almost realistic-ish. In my gallery there's a lot of females, but I can draw men too. Animals are a challenge and I love challenges. I am a dummy!

I can also make logos, animations, icons, etc. but I won't include them in the prices + examples list (I mostly do those things for freelance work) If you're interested you can send me a note and ask what it's about.

:aww:
Some statistics about bullying:
It's the most common form of violence in our society, 15-3

APRIL - Friendship - Bullying/Intimidation ISSUE #2
Hi everyone! :D

I've started to receive some contributions to the project and so far so good! In this second issue I'm having an interview with  PaleAuthor about her poem and her personal experiences with bullying, facts from kidshealth.org, some featured deviations and other awesome stuff. If you'd like to participate yourself, please read the introduction journal, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

PROJECT EARN MAY - Mental Health ISSUE #1PROJECT EARN
MAY - Mental Health ISSUE #1
Hi friends! Aww
Introducing the second topic in Project EARN! This month we are talking
about mental health, what it is, why it's important and how we can
prevent mental health illness. May is also mental health awareness
month
, so that's great!
Much of the information I will provide you with will come from the group
:iconmental-health:, which is a group specializing in mental health,
focusing on different concerns every month.
This issue will be very short, leaving room for you to participate with
your own deviations and journals in the next issues.
If you don't know what Project EARN is about, you can look for the
introduction journal and the April topic in the bottom of this issue.
Sincerely,
Aimyee

MAY - Mental Health ISSUE #2
Hi friends! Aww
Finally I can publish the second issue. Again, sorry for the delay, but
this needs to be well done. I can't just push information because then
you won't learn anything and that's kinda one of the most important
things with this project.
My giveaway was recently closed and I've sent the prizes to the
winners. Once again, congrats to all of you and especially QueenTiara,
GreenNoodleKitten and Kyyraneth who won the premium membership's!
More giveaways are planned and if you want to help me and Project EARN
you can donate points to my donation pool on the front page. In the end
of this issue I feature the current donators, I can't do this without you.
Sincerely,
Aimyee

(Animated) Rise of the Tomb Raider
First time doing an animation like this. It was difficult but fun, so I'll probably make more. More advanced hopefully since this painting wasn't really meant to be animated :aww:
I'm just procrastinating... a lot. The animation itself is only 2 seconds so I guess it looks a bit weird. :D

Antimated Intro - Shooting Things
Short flash-animated intro I made for 2 Swedish youtubers earlier this year..

Short lesson in Swedish:
"Skjuter saker" is roughly translated to "shooting things" :D
